The research aims to develop investigations related to digital graphic representation applied in the construction and understanding of the urban development of the city of Rio de Janeiro, focusing specifically on the analysis of the evolution of the system of urban central spaces that make up the central area of the city. city, mainly from the 19th century. Through methodologies for using three-dimensional modeling tools in the construction of digital urban models, possibilities for their use in the construction of the disappeared urban form with the growth of the city and its relationship with other urban dynamics, where the use of advanced resources will be tested and developed of graphic representation will be closely related to the analysis of iconographic documentation, in addition to other primary documentary sources, main vehicles of information about the city's past. Thus, the research is initially developed as an unfolding of the doctoral thesis "A Esplanada do Castelo: Fragments of an Urban History" defended in September / 2007, focusing specifically on the urban problem generated by the disappearance of Morro do Castelo, in the central area of the city of Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century.
