CULTURAL HERITAGE AND CONTEMPORARY CITIES:
CONSTRUCTIONS, PATHWAYS AND PERSPECTIVES
ABOUT
This research project starts from the hypothesis that the relationships established between permanences and transformations, which characterize the attribution of value to sites and buildings of heritage relevance, as well as the criteria that guide interventions in urban tissues, which are increasingly complex, of our cities, would be among the contradictions and conflicts that shape contemporary cities. The investigation of the existing relationships between contemporary cities and cultural heritage, especially architectural heritage, is based on the need to expand the concepts of city and heritage, respectively, in order to cover the complexity they have acquired in contemporary times.
