URBAN VOIDS OF THE CENTRAL AREA:
PERMANENCES E TRANSFORMATIONS
ABOUT
The aim of this research project is to investigate the relationships established between permanence and transformations in the central urban area of the city of Rio de Janeiro from the implementation of the new projects proposed for the area, with the economic revitalization that has reached the State since the beginning. of the 21st century and the choice of the city to host major events in the coming years, with public buildings in situations of urban emptiness, those of interest for cultural heritage, housing demands for the area and the proposed projects for reactivation as the conducting threads urban voids. It is adopted as an initial hypothesis that there would be an intensification in this relationship between permanence / transformations according to the opposition fostered between development / cultural heritage and the resumption of the historic opposition central area / social housing. Taking as a reference the notion of urban fabric as a social construction, the constitution of a multidisciplinary theoretical-methodological framework was adopted as an analysis methodology, oriented towards what we call the conducting threads of this analysis and the developments that will arise from the articulation between them. We opted for a dynamic reading of the collected and produced data supported by field survey, bibliographic, iconographic and cartographic survey and production of maps, images and texts as a way of systematizing, analyzing and producing the data.
